Gaming dvd burning problem on my pc

okey ppl
i have a pc with windows vista premium installed and it has a sony dvd-rw dvd rom.
everytime i tried to burn a dvd or cd i get this error "power calibration error"
i tried different burning sotwares (nero,burn my files,imgburn,imageiso), different dvd types (sony,toshiba, -r,+r,rw) and different writing speed (2x,4x)
but nothing the error keeps coming everytime

Try updating firmware

IDE drive, right? Make sure the cables are secure and that the drive is set to master (other IDE devices to slave)
