Hacking DSTwo: Pokemon Fire Red Save Error

I tried everything to get these ROMs to work when it came to saving. I downloaded an .ips file that was supposed to fix it and then patched the ROM but it failed to work. I still get the "The 1m circuit board" message as well as the "Save error. Please exchange the backup memory" error on both of my Fire Red and Leaf Green ROMs. If anyone can point me to an .ips patch that works, I'd be grateful.

Downgrade your GBA emulator to this one, then download this
http://filetrip.net/file.php?id=12630
and rename the file to game_config.txt and put in the NDSGBA folder.
Also with this this it won't need the patch, it will work with the clean rom

That patch blows.
It makes the save file go 64kb, which will make the save file get corrupted when you beat the Elite Four.
