I have a DSTT, and friends of mine have R4s. They think their R4 is better than my TopToy, but... which one is?

A thing with the DSTT Cheats, I've noticed that the notes on the cheats don't come up. On the R4, the notes come up in blue.

For example: Animal Crossing: Wild World

R4:
Teleport
L+R+Down to set location
L+R+Up to teleport there

DSTT:
Teleport
(No notes here?!)

This is only one example, but anyway.... Which do you think is better? R4 or DSTT?

R4 is very unlikely to ever be updated again so due to that I would have to say DSTT.

r4: outdated and do not support high capacity memory cards

chances are, your friends will switch to dstt when they cant play games anymore

Well even with out the R4 updates you can still get every game to work.

Wow.. do you really reckon dstt is that good?

Did anyone say that? The R4 is a great card which lacks any further updates from the R4 team.

thats strange... maybe its your reader have you corrupted your friends sd card before? or does it only happen to urs?

yeah, it play games for now, but without updates to bugfixes, you can never know. or maybe you can... time will tell.

i didnt say dstt is that good but it's better that r4.

I would say DSTT.

SDHC support, more recent updates, cheap as chips.

If you get one, make sure it comes in the new plastic packaging, not the older cardboard one.
A large amount of the cardboard box ones are clones.

Most R4s you can still buy are also clones, any that have SDHC support certainly are.

Kind of a silly argument since both the R4 and DSTT are mediocre flash carts by today's standards. Both are lacking in features and updates. The DSTT is better because it supports SDHC, it gets compatibility updates every once in a while, and it's cheap. The R4 is tremendously overpriced, doesn't support SDHC, and if a newer game isn't compatible with the R4 you're pretty much screwed since it doesn't receive regular updates.

That said, the Acekard 2, Edge, and SCDS1 are all better choices than either the DSTT or R4.

I have an R4, it works great.

You have to use the occasional ARM7 patch, but it's quick and easy to do.

But you SHOULD NOT buy an R4, because it's a last gen cart. Plain and simple.

You want to go with a newer card that is actively supported by its dev team, and has sdhc support as well.

I would recommend the Acekard 2.

And don't go looking for a cheat system better than the R4, because no one has pulled off the pre-game cheat menu better than the R4.

Actually... looking at my Acekard RPG (assume it the same for my Acekard2), using AKAIO when i goto cheats... the "help" for each cheat scrolls by in a ticker at the bottom of the window... 8 second video of it

This is the best thing i've seen yet

R4 is better because there is wood r4

You just bumped a two year old thread to mention a firmware that wasn't even available at the time the discussion was going on.
