Hi, I recently lost my DSlite and I'm planning on getting a XL next, and my question is:
Do the DSi flash cards work for the DSi xl ? and I've also been told that its capable of GBA emulation.

Can someone shed me some light on this ? I'm fairly clueless on these things.

Yes the AKi and CycloDS etc works with the Dsi XL since it's just a bigger DSi.

No, it's not capable of emulating GBA, maybe Supercard 2 will be, but since nobody tested it yet we wont know until... we know.

The CycloDS only works on DS Phat and DS Lite. Only the iPlayer is capable of running GBA games at the mo although the Supercard 2 will be able to do it when it's launched.

DSi XLs shipped with 1.4 firmware, any flashcart that works with 1.4 will work in an XL. As mentioned above, aside from its size an XL is exacttly the same as a DSi, it cannot currently emulate GBA games as only the original DS capabilities are currently available to homebrew coders. Theoretically once access to the extra DSi RAM and cpu speed is unlocked native GBA emulation may be possible.

just waith for the SC2. I am also planning on getting one of those also becaus I like the idea of the free cheat XD

you want to get an AK2i if you want good compatabilty with almost all games and very good support.
If you want to emulate GBA games, you've got to go for the Iplayer or the new supercard 2. The difference between the two is that the Iplayer can't play NDS games, only video's, music and homebrew, and the supercard can play NDS games.

I am in the same boat. I'm thinking of giving my Nintendo DS Lite and my Edge flash cart to my friend's little brother, and then buying a Nintendo DSi XL.

So is the Acekard 2i the only card that works for it or what? I'd like to know a list of my options... and which one is the best? I don;t play GBA games so that isn't a concern of mine.

All DSi carts work on XL, including Acekard 2i, M3i Zero, EZ Flash Vi, iEDGE, iPlayer (no commercial ROMs) and Supercard DS TWO (not released yet, includes GBA compatibility so you might not be too bothered about waiting).

I've probably missed some. And no, R4 clones are not worth mentioning.

Which one would you recommend? Real time save is a pretty nice feature, but not a must. And one that keeps up to date with firmware updates and such.
I can only recommend you the Supercard DSonei. It is truly the best of the best in terms of firmware updates, game patches, etc. Otherwise, wait until 18th May and you'll be able to buy a Supercard DStwo. It has absolutely everything possibe, it's even able to emulate GBA games!

definitely Acekard 2i if you dont want to wait or if you have enough money to spend Super card DS Two looks awesome, but will it relize all the great things like real GBA emulation without bugs? we will know after it will be released and few more updates will be released

I don't own any of them, but Acekard 2i will probably be recommended by most, although AKAIO is the only thing keeping it afloat. DS TWO might be a good one too.
