Im going to attempt a phoenix wright ds cover, Im too scared and not skilled enough to mod my actual ds case
so I've been using the hori ds shells from play asia ( http://www.play-asia.com/paOS-13-71-b6-49-en-70-1pxi.html ) and sanding them down to make them more receptive to paint
I have already copied the zelda mod, I had it painted with car spraying tools and also had the slot 2 cover painted in the same gold colour before sticking the zelda pin (from gamestation) onto it.
it looks incredible and im already planning my next ds friendly case mod
I plan to do a phoenix wright cover but this time I plan to cover the hori ds protector in a faux leather (black or brown)
and fit a popper with a section of stitched leather to close the case/ds,
however Im struggling to think of a way to decorate the cover
I plan to use the courtroom logo from here
but Im not sure of the best way to implement this design onto the leather case
I've had a few Ideas, these follow
Cut the design out of the faux leather and apply some gold coloured paint onto the protector underneath the leather
or
cut a circle into the leather and paint the design directly onto the ds protector
or
build a badge out of the modelling putty fimo which can be modelled with a craft knife and baked hard in the oven
then laquered to give it a decent finish.
and then stick this into a cut hole in the faux leather
I prefer the first and last idea as my painting skills are shoddy and I dont think it will give the effect I desire
however with the first idea, cutting the logo into the leather may be difficult as the logo has detail on it that will not look the same.
any suggestions of a way to achieve this would be very helpful
