It's much more fun when you can actually read the objectives (compared to Clash King) and therefore know what the hell you're supposed to be doing. I rank this game among the top echelon of racers on the DS, a sleeper-hit to be sure. Put it next to Speed Racer as one of the best psychotic racing games on the DS. I mean, the cars show damage, the shadows are rendered in real-time and explosions and mayhem all over the place. Beyond being a really fun arcade racer, it's really a very technically impressive title on our little DS. Just the sheer amount of action going on at one time is jaw-dropping. It's the kind of game I've been saying we need more of on the DS. A game the makes you go WOOHOO! while you're playing it.

All that action does take its toll though, I see some slowdown here-and-there. But I think I can forgive that in lieu of all the insanity going on in this game. It's just plain FUN to play. Well, at least it is for me. I'm loving it!

It has fully customizable controls. You can set the buttons up any way you wish in the options. You can even set it to use stylus controls, though I think you'd have to be nuts to try and play the game that way.

This game is sorta like Destruction Derby, Flatout or Burnout, with some over-the-top effects that are really amazing to see coming from a DS.

Someone asked about a comparison to Asphalt? This makes Asphalt look like Driver's Ed. In other words, Asphalt's very tame compared to Sideswiped. For one thing, this game's framerate is higher. Another difference is that Sideswiped is crash-and-bash racing......it has more.....varied objectives.....than a regular racing game. It's not just straight-up racing. Sideswiped is in no way even remotely realistic. It's pure arcade insanity. Quite a different game than Asphalt.

The original boxart has the blue WiFi symbol on it. But it's just online rankings. Multiplayer is local-only up to 4 players. There is also a 2-player mode where 2 people take turns playing on one DS, passing it back and forth.

Sideswiped definitely gets a permanent spot on my flashcard! I give it an easy 9 out of 10. It's just plain fun to play and I can't ask for anything more than that.
Nice mini review.

I totally loved it when I was driving down the roads and cars and random street objects were flying around in the sky and crashing all around me. Though I don't think cars do that in real life, I really did enjoy the crashing mechanics of this game. The racing mechanics seem very good as well! Great racing game so far!

Also, it was funny to see that a car I had rammed into, gets 30 feet ahead of me because of the little push I gave it XD.

I tried this game, and I suck terribly at it. I keep crashing and getting tossed into the air...

HAHAHA! XD Amazing! XD This game's great!

It feels like the child of Katamari Damacy and Burnout! XD
Damn this game makes me wish for a Katamari Racing game.

But in the meanwhile this would do great for now. I give it a thumbs up! d(^^

I noticed that in some races, it will show a slow-motion replay when you do a particularly nice slam on a car. Nice touch.

While this is basically a different kind of game, it still gives me Rollcage flashbacks just in the amount of craziness going on.

I think Majesco screwed up by making this an online-purchase-only game. They automatically hurt their sales of this game by doing that. As far as I'm concerned, this is one of the best racing games on the DS and I believe it would have sold better than they think, had they sold it in retail. Being that it's only a 16MB rom, maybe they plan to release it as DSi-ware at some point and that's why this version got such a crappy release method.

It seems that many developer's have really stepped it up a notch when it comes to DS games in 2009. The 3D graphics have improved drastically. We've seen a lot of impressive games for DS this year, shovelware notwithstanding.

This game is probably one of the best driving games for DS. The game runs pretty smooth and the crashes/explosions look great for a DS game. This game is what Burnout Legends should've been. Majesco did a great job on this. The only annoying thing is the announcer's voice.

Never underestimate a 16mb DS game...

Downloaded it and played it for a few minutes and was flabbergasted. Impressions...

- This game is truly awesome. It's completely unrealistic, but it's just fun that way. It's racing and demolition derby fun, both parts are excellent.
- The graphics are pretty good, outside of explosion animations. I love the slow-mo replays of your most epic crashes. Very Burnout, right?
- Racing portions are good, demolition sections are even better.
- Possibly the best racer on the DS overall. I liked Dirt 2 but I do enjoy my arcade racers.

hehe...this game really is the greatest. played the japanese one for ages. not really sure i need to play it over in english as it wasnt that hard to figure out the formula after the first few rounds. just trying to get 'complete' on all the levels now and unlock the last few cars.

what makes it fun is that its fun in short bursts so you can pick up and play for a few mins.

From the video posted on the first page, it looks like it has a "Cruis'n USA" kind of look to it, which of, I enjoyed on the N64. Might give this a go. Looks fun.

Would be even funner if it had online.

Pff, now I love this game. It's so damn mindless that's it's just awesome. Ram shit into other shit and watch shit fly. It's cool as hell. I love how the physics are just so overexaggerated that you'll go flying hundreds of feet in the air. It's just awesome.

I'll review this sometime tomorrow.

Now I see what all the fuss is about. This game is pretty awesome. I wouldn't really call it a racing game, but it's probably about as close to a real Burnout game on DS as we're gonna get. The explosions are, well, they're amazing! The framerate is butta', and the handling is right on the mark for the gameplay they're going for. Love that they kept the Engrish-speaking-announcer chick from the Japanese build.

Gotta agree with Rayder -- the game seems like a sleeper hit. It's sure to get lost in the holiday shuffle, though.

Ugh...we need a money cheat for this game so bad. I want that big tank thing. but it costs a cool mil.

Can't put the game down, though.
