Gaming Dragon Quest IX WFC connection issue

As we all know, a prepatched rom aint working properly for some cards...
as the result, we use the Xenom patch rom...

then when i reached the 2nd town, and helped the girl to open inn, i saw a girl with halo, and she said something about visiting other worlds ...it shld be WFC right? I tried it but the connection bar is red (shld be green)

then i tried the canvass thing....also red bar....what gives...??? does that mean patched roms wont work with WFC no more?

pls help... >.

It's not WFC, it's local only. But I don't know what is the canvass thing :/

well when u talk to Erinn in the Inn, theres an option "canvass for guests"...it too uses a wifi of somesort...

Oh, yeah. It's the option to expand the inn. I think it works like the "mingle mode" in The World Ends With You (but I'm not sure) : it uses Bluetooth (or WiFi ?), and when it detects some WiFi signal from a DS (or a Wii, but it needs to be confirmed) it adds a guest in the inn.

it would be a wifi (ds doesn't have bluetooth)
the way i understand it, it's like "bark mode" on nintendogs, where it sees random players when you get close to them (not through the internet though) and adds guests

Canvass from Erinn and the options from Pevo/Pevu are only local wireless.
Later, when you get the spell "Zoom", there will be a blonde girl in the inn who let's you acces the DQVS, a WFC-Shop with new items every day.

Is there a way to expand the inn without cheats and without another DS ? Unfortunately, no friends of mine have DS...

I just connected to the DQVS and had no problem and got myself a seed of skill for 5000 gold.

I can't seem to be able to connect to the DQVS, do I have to update my DSi to 1.4 to do so?
Is the weekly DLC free? Isn't there any way to get it outside of DQVS? Thanks!
