So I purchased a used iphone 4 recently, it's the first model, and when i got it, it already had Ios 7.1.2 installed. Preferring Ios 6, i got downloaded the correct firmware and attempted to downgrade with ifaith. (i found generic shsh blobs off a youtube video.) The phone went into Pwnd DFU mode no problem, but when i tried to restore to Ios 6.1.3 (using itunes 11), it gave me an error.

Is there any way to still downgrade my iphone? Or am i going to have to get used to ios 7?

With the current public tools available (and private ones as far as I know), it is impossible to restore to any iOS version 4 or above without the appropriate SHSH blobs for your specific device. There are no generic SHSH blobs. Every device's are unique.
