Hey :)

A friend downgraded his old 3DS to Version 1.0.0 while running Luma3DS via B9S. Don't ask me why. Surprisingly, the device works kinda. Rosalina menu does not show up, NNID settings is an app with a stub banner and launching the settings app results in a black screen. I think this is fixable with a NAND backup or Safe mode, but he wants to get 1.0.0 working. Is there a way to achieve this?

You can just CtrTransfer it to 11.15 using the godmode9 payload, that you can launch holding start while power on the 3ds if you put the payload on the SD CARD.
After that, just update the 3ds on the System Settings to the latest firmware

I also don't understand what he wants to do with such an old firmware. But as I thought, this wasn't a good idea.

Am I able to update the system via Safe Mode instead of CTRTransfer? It would be way easier probably.

  is your friend a child? I am not sure about it, but I listened bootstrap does not boot on 1.0 system menu, at least he will know what he does not have to do

Probably, but Idk if it'll work the update neither if it's really safe.
For example: If you downgrade the 3ds to 2.1.0 and upgrade manually(or do something similar, like sleep mode, don't remember about it), it'll brick(It's the well known 2.1.0 brick), below that FW idk if the same problem'll happen if you try to update it,my advice is to use the ctrtransfer, kinda quick to do it

Well, booting into home menu works. Pretty much nothing else works lol.

I'll try a CTRTransfer. Hopefully it isn't too hard. :D

Whatever your friend installed, it wasn't fully okay.
I can confirm 1.0.0 fully working on O3DSXL

Luma3DS has very limited functionality below v4.x

:!: Never downgrade a device from the "New" series to very old versions (or use any firmware for old series consoles) :!:

Please don't do such stuff without good reason. Easiest and best solution for going back to normal is restoring the NAND backup. Doing such experiments without creating a NAND backup right before the experiment is… I'll spare you the word(s).

no will work, is a surprise what not ended as a brick, the old very old firmwares aren't completely functional.
