Hi, I am looking to buy a physical copy of doom eternal for the switch. I was told you have to be online to play it. Is this correct?

Yesn't, you can but you need the campaign dlc

So if you are on a banned unmodded switch = no bueno, unless the physical cartridge includes that single player campaign dlc (which, tbh, I would hope it does, because otherwise why did they make a physical copy?)

If not banned and the cart doesnt have campaign dlc on it, then at the very least you can get the campaign dlc installed from eshop and play offline from there, otherwise on modded console you can check if the cart includes 0100B1A00D8CF003 (DLC3), if not then you can find it online and install it

Limited Run Games are the only company that put Doom Eternal on a cartridge, and since they used a 32GB cartridge, they couldn't fit the latest 6.66 update. So even with the cartridge version, you need an additional update installed to play online.
