But that event is just the same as now when the Vita launched in Japan and people imported it to their country long before it was released there from online stores.
Of course, they'd be hard pressed to stop individuals from importing consoles ahead of release. But Lik-Sang were selling a lot and Sony didn't like it. I remember being an affiliate with Lik-Sang at the time and I made enough store credit to buy a Pink DS Phat just from linking to the PSP pre-order page with my signature on various forums. Luckily I spent it before they went out of business
Ah so for example if I opened a store and when the PS4 gets released in Japan I start selling it in the US and UK Sony would come after me for no real reason apart from me selling a new console which dedicated gamers would probables already have.
I doubt "dedicated gamers" would buy a Japanese console instead of waiting. Maybe you meant to use a different word.
So you wouldn't import a region free console instead of waiting the 3 months for it to arrive in your country?

If you were selling enough to catch their attention, most likely. And, since the UK courts ruled in their favour several years ago, it would be a fairly simple filing for them over here. Out of fear, many similar sites stopped selling the PS3 to Europe as a result of the Lik-Sang lawsuit. Sad, really.

It is sad and i'm lucky I don't live in the UK for this instance since they still send to AUS probably because no one really thinks we're such a big market anyway but doesn't Sony profit from the sales anwyay?

Why would one regions console be region free and the others not?

Anyways, no, I wouldn't. If a console is region locked, I would have to import all of my games. On top of that, import rates go from nearly double the costs of a console. I, and the majority of other people, are fine with waiting 3 months.

I never said the rest are region locked, I said would you rather import a region free console now instead of waiting 3+ months for it to be released in your home country, I never said import a region locked console.

If the console was region free, I would still wait. Importing would mean spending hundreds more than the retail price will be in 3 months. I would have no problem importing games, however.

Maybe thats cause your in the US cause things are usually cheaper there but for us in AUS importing is cheaper than buying locally.

Uh, by looking at the link ,the Lik-Sang thing had to do with the fact it was selling Mod Chips, not region free stuff
Obviously, your attention span isn't all too good and you only read the first few paragraphs. Lik-Sang had an injunction stopping them from selling mod chips, but became very popular for selling legitimate products afterwards. It wasn't until 2006 that they went out of business after Sony sued them for selling the PSP to UK consumers before the UK launch.

Dang u mad, no reason to get all insulty broskee.
