Does NDSL work without VR2?

Hi, my VR2 potentiometer came off the other day, I took it out of the case, and when I started the console, everything was fine, the screen works as usual. Is it okay if I leave the console in this state, or does it need to be soldered into place?
UPD: Okay, the question is removed, after half an hour of playing, the screen began to darken. I guess I'll have to fix it

Yes, the touchscreen works, when I turned it before, the brightness (or contrast, I'm not sure) of the lower screen changed, so I think it's not responsible for the touchscreen
