Recently I purchased softmodded korean WII (which ultimately got bricked by Error 003 due to 4.2U update). But before it bricked, it was able to run backup DVD. Since my serial number series was not listed on wiidrives site, I opened up my WII to figure out which drive it has. Followed the steps mentioned to classify my drive and finally it was classified as D3-2. But since my 4.0U firmware was able to run backup DVDs, can it be D3-2 drive. I'm asking that because from the readings I have read, it seems D3-2 cannot run backup drive (even on 4.0). Is that true? If yes, does that mean I have D3 drive and not D3-2 drive?

    Its not a D3-2 drive
With those drives it IMPOSSIBLE to read DVDs. Period.

    Its probably D3 then.
