Hacking Does firewall block DevMenu?

I've been trying for 2 days now, and DevMenu doesn't install. I ran run.bat, but it either says "failed to connect" or "11001". What can I do now?

It's certainly possible that a firewall (either hardware, router level, or software) could block this.

I'm presuming he's talking about transferring the dev menu over to the 3ds, via the hit or miss utilities that are used to do so, not the actual devmenu itself. That process is notorious to basically random failure....and firewalls, antiviruses, etc can certainly interfere.

I mean, you edited run.bat with your 3DS' local IP address (as displayed in your router's settings/status page), right?

And you are booting into palantine (or pbt) cfw by holding the L button before pressing ds profile, right?

If you are doing those things correctly, do whatever you can to make your connection between your pc and router as direct as possible. Turn off any firewalls, at least temporarily, both in windows and in your router's settings. Maybe try enabling the "demilitarized zone" setting for your PC in your router's setting (also called DMZ for short).

Other than those suggestions, mess around with your router settings or various settings in windows.

The dmz has nothing to do with this. It is all local connections and the dmz just put incoming port forwarding outside the firewall....

You don't even need a internet connection since it is local only

OP if you have a android phone use the app "fing" to double check the 3ds on the network has the correct edited ip in the bat file

Thanks for the pointers. It's been a long time since I've used a dmz and I barely remembered what it really did, but you're right that it shouldn't matter since this is all over your local network. To be honest I was pretty much just throwing out random advice since I personally had no issues with using ctrclient so I don't really know what issues people seem to have with it.

I have a feeling that the IP in the bat file is pointed at the wrong IP and is showing the error

OP by any chance do you have a gateway or mt card?
