It does suck getting bored with games although it is definitely a good feeling buying games. My old supervisor told me about this years ago when I got into the DS scene with him and others at work. The purchase is like an investment that you cherish, usually when you buy it's like a special bond you have with your game lol. That's my thought on the topic.

One cool thing for us who are late consumers is that the games price's drop and the purchase is cheap. Shit I got Geometry Wars DS for like $10 bucks at Best Buy on clearance love that game.

Although I still drop the mula on some new releases just because I feel the developers deserve it like SMG and possibly SMG2 when it comes out.

I bought GOW3 and I don't even own a PS3, I just really wanted to finish the trilogy so I borrowed a friends PS3. I'll get one eventually maybe when the price gets even lower

.

Anyway yeah love the purchase feeling hate the boredom with most free games.

This was happening long before video game piracy.

People do not appreciate things they did not have to work for. It's why people play hard to get when dating. It's why adults look down on kids. It's why politicians spend money like it's going out of style.

Yeah, I started to feel this way, so I just went through and deleted like 85% of my games to really narrow down the games I honestly enjoy, then deleted others that I went out and payed for. So now I am just left with the games I pirated only because they are so hard to find in my area.

Lethargy in plenty! Food will always taste better to the starving man. When you have any game at your disposal they will..... well.... loose their taste. The thing is. Is the starving man happier than the well fed just because the food tastes better? At that split second of gastronomical ecstasy I would say yes but afterwards I would say no. Variety will always make you happier even if you don't always finish the entire plate.

You know, it doesn't feel the same.

When I pirate a game, I just feel this weight. This weight in my pocket. I can't describe it. Whenever I see what this weight is, it feels like a big clump of paper. Odd... When I buy a game, that clump of paper is gone. Well, occasionally it's a bunch of coins.

I'm sure others feel this way.

You know, you are right. I hate loosing that bunch of coins out of my pocket as well. Pirating is much better.

Or... Did I miss something?

The sensation is common to anything you did nothing to get.

You see it in a lot of things. Ever notice how a lot of low income (aka poor aka often on assistance) families just plain often don't care for their property or their things. Not that all do, but you can dang well bet many don't.

If you earned it, it's an accomplishment. It's a success a trial you passed. It's YOURS and you don't need to worry about it.

There's a charm to spending hard won cash on something. It's a matter of pride thing.

Now this sensation doesn't happen for every last thing necessarily. I do NOT feel bad about downloading DS roms to check them out. Because I KNOW most will be worthless crud. The usual response being 'glad I didn't waste valuable cash on that one' hits delete button.

I do NOT feel bad downloading most movies, as Hollywood is hardly turning out movies any better than most Nintendo games.

I do like buying things, I like buying GOOD things.
I prefer the expensive hard cover even though a paper back is ok to just read the thing.
I prefer good leather shoes that usually cost as much as two pairs of common running shoes.

I have bought movies, but it's rare.
I do buy music, again, it's rare.
I did the what 5 games would you have on a desert island thread here. All my 5 choices I own the real game for.

But all of the things I have actually bought, have something that is better than the majority.
I don't mind getting schlock for free. Or rather, I'm glad I don't need to pay for schlock.

Well said mate.
If it is worth buying, I will also, and enjoy it. There is however, no worse feeling than throwing your hard earned money away on trash

Unlike others, I have the Space Pirate Syndrome. Pretty rare... If I get bored of a game, I replace it with another, but I make sure the replaced game gets completely eliminated.

Sfosh!!!

This was exactly what my friend and I discussed about yesterday, and we totally agreed.
It's so easy to download every single game, but they don't feel the same if you purchase it.
There is no "I paid for the game, I have to beat it" kind of feeling when you simply download it.

Hell yes brah, Its Pirate Syndrome I think--I hate it.
I always want a better game than the one I already have
you double posted the same thing well yes I do feel that but I lack behind in that later on.
I like your sig. eyMan

Yeah, I get it to a point. I will move on from a pirated game if I get bored or something else interests me more, and yeah, that happens with bought games, but I suppose having less of them lessens my chance of being distracted.

If a game is good enough i'll play through it without distraction though- like this week I played through Holy Invasion of Privacy Badman without changing games or getting distracted....although that was because I stopped playing Soul Silver (mainly to let my brother catch up on his copy so we can trade & battle).

I'd have to agree, actually. I find that I beat games more often if I buy them rather then pirate them. Only game that I've pirated that I've ever actually beaten was Avalon Code...
