Are you just trying to run the original disc? If so, it should run just fine as long as its not super outdated (some versions were blocked on later models of ps2 itself). The modchip shouldn't effect functionality of the action replay.

If you're trying to run it off a USB drive, I have no idea if its compatible with the Modbo 5. You would have to try it to find out
