Want to win a DSi signed by longtime Zelda producer Eiji Aonuma? I'm in a kotaku contest where I can win that DSi, a $1000 gift card, and more. If you help me win the kotaku contest and I win, I'll give you a chance to win the DSi from me!

Go here:

http://kotaku.com/5441513/the-eleven-zelda-fan-finalist...

Vote for MichaeltheGreat's entry "When You Die Pamphlets".

Do one of the following 2:
-Enter by replying to this topic: Vote for MichaeltheGreat's entry "When You Die Pamphlets" and reply to this post that you voted for me. If you do this, I'll put your name in twice (two chances) to win.
-Enter by email:Vote and email [email protected]. Their email subject should be "I voted for Michael" and put your full name in the email. I'll put your name in once for the DSi (one chance). If you have friends vote and they want to give you their chance, have them write "I give my chance to at ".

You can vote at kotaku once per day. But you can only enter my contest once. Vote everyday because if I don't win, there is no DSi contest!

Extended rules:

-Post in a forum or send me an email by 5am Mountain time January 11th, 2010. (I posted this in more than one forum)
-Don't cheat. Don't find ways to circumvent Kotaku's one vote per day rule!
-If things happen beyond my control, everything is void. (if I win but somehow don't get the prize, I can't afford to get the prize. I'll insure the package but if it gets to you broken and the post office won't pay, I won't relace it. Just saying if the improbably happens, I'm not some rich company that can fix the problem).
-I'll have a couple trusted people help me randomly pick the winner in an open process. Any suggestions for trusted people? Maybe a forum mod?

FAQ:

--Can we post this to more message boards?
Sure, the email option would be open to anyone. I'm also posting this to more than this board.

--What if you don't win?
Then you just wasted another 5 minutes on the internet. Like that's any different than normal.

--Can we trust you?
I'm not very well known here, but I've got a good rep elsewhere. Let me know if you want references.

--Will you ship the DSi worldwide?
Can't promise the fastest shipping, but yes. It will have to be sent trackable so that people can see I really shipped it.

--Is this really in the spirit of the contest?
By making it a vote, Kotaku made this a popularity contest. Also the spirit of the contest was to bring "converts" to Zelda. Nintendo wants cheap advertising for Zelda Spirit Tracks. Well, I'm definately doing that. In fact, I'm still doing that with this post!

Replyin to the two first posters, problem is: the other contestants are very likely also using their social networks to garner votes, so why shouldn't he?

I have cast a vote.

NO!

If your entry is good, it should win without any help.
This, and for all we know, you could just take the prizes and run, if you just need help winning it you should say.

If you don't want to vote, that's fine. If you want to vote for me to help me but don't want to enter my contest because you don't like it, that's fine too. If you want to vote for someone else, that's also fine. If you don't trust me, well I'm not sure what I can do about that since this is the internet and you don't know me from adam. The McDonalds Monopoly was rigged for years so at least you're not paying into a contest! Read the fraud section in this article.

And I will do what I say if that's worth anything.

If I win, How I plan to pick a winner:

1. I'm going to pick two people who are trusted in one of the forums I've posted in (any suggestions? A mod want to volunteer?).
2. I'm going to create a list of all voters and randomly assign every one as many numbers as they have chances. I'll give this to trusted person #1.
3. I'll give trusted person #2 numbers. Maybe I'll send them a box of little slips of paper?
4. Trusted person number 2 will email a randomly picked number to trusted person number 1. Trusted person one will tell us the name of who won and I'll try to contact them.
5. I'll ship with tracking so all can see.

This may sound overly complicated, but I want you to be able to trust that I'm not going to give this to a friend or keep it for myself.

Dude, random.org is all you need to solve this issue. Assign numbers to each person and then have each helper you pick run the true random number generator... as they won't have access to the numbers of the people, it's all transparent.

Thanks, I'll look into that.

Up to 4 precent. I'm going to try something new tomorrow and see if I can get some more votes...

... I have to ask, why did you enter if you're going to give the best prize away for free?

Voted for you but I doubt you'll win.

Use the "Random Number" suggestion that the other "Temper" made.
