Hacking Do you need "patches"?

Hello,
Recently I'm following the installation of CFW on the sd card and dude is putting patches (exefs_patches, kip_patches) in the atmosphere folder as it will allow us to install games properly?
Do I need this as on 9.0.1 and Atmosphère 0.9.4 or not?
Also, what if I connect to a new Wi-Fi router, so it doesn't have DNS set for it to block Nintendo servers? So how I should connect to a brand new router then?

If you want to install games properly then yes you will need the sig patches. For the router stuff you need to set on your switch to use 90DNS. But if you want to be extra careful just don't go online at all with custom firmware on.

Not really sure but all I know is if your switch is running cfw and you go onto the internet without using 90DNS or some other DNS that blocks nintendo servers, there is probably a chance that nintendo may have flagged you.

I've set my DNS settings before jailbreaking, but just want to know what to do with new Wi-Fi's, as you need first to connect then set DNS
