I heard about the Dingoo recently and it looks pretty good, and then there's still the GP32x Wiz I think, that also sounds pretty good. The PSP itself is also a beast, but then I'd have to worry about firmware with it. What about today's pocket PC/smart phones?

Which one do you guys think is the best for emulation on the go? Something small of course. I want the best battery life and the best for roms. Does anyone have any suggestions, or know of even better devices for something like this?

I'd say just get a PSP or gaming laptop. It's kind of annoying having to worry about the firmware on PSP, but it's fun as hell to play Smash Bros. on it, lol.

How's the PSP's battery life for PURE emulation? I know playing regular games require UMD and the battery life isn't as good.

About 4 - 5 hours? I'm not sure exactly, but it's definitely at least 4 hours.

You don't need to worry about firmware versions to play homebrew on the PSP. That's only applicable for the retail games/piracy.

Battery life expectations vary too much among users, so I won't even bother trying to answer that.

Phones just aren't very good emulation systems. Even though mine is powerful enough to play SNES, GBA, Scumm, etc. I barely used it even before I bought my PSP. They're not designed with gaming in mind that is button controlled. And there are superior native games like RTS and tower defense that are far more accomodating.
