Am I the only one who finds the New version of 3DS models annoying? I love the addition of the C-Stick, but the game slot being in the front always catches me off-guard because I feel like it's second nature for the slot to be facing away from me. I have the same issue with the stylus slot too. With the older models of 3DS and 2DS, the stylus slot is found on the side of the device, which to me is a lot more intuitive than the New models that have the slot facing you. And last but not least, the location of the SD card on New 3DS models is pretty absurd. In older models they had an easily accessible tab on the side that opened for you to put the SD card in. With the New 3DS models you have to go through all the trouble to unscrew the backplate and be careful not to knock the battery out as you try to insert the card. It gets very tedious to deal with whereas the older models had a better layout in my opinion.

Yep. You are alone in that. The N3DSXL is superior in every meaningful way. They improved the 3D, it has a faster processor that makes games like Xenoblades possible (that doesn't run on earlier models) as well as PS1 emulation, plus 60FPS patches, and a better hardware build/quality that doesn't break easily like on the earlier models where the clamshells are iffy.

You got used to where things were on the poorly designed earlier models. Once you get used to the N3DSXL, you won't be able to go back. I've got a 256GB SD card in mine and thus won't ever be swapping it out, so it hardly matters where it is located. Sounds like some major league whining to me.

Well, I didn't mean that the model in its entirety is annoying. I agree that the processing and 3D is top notch in comparison to the earlier models. I simply was referring to the layout of the slots I mentioned in my post. As an owner of a New 3DS LL I love how it runs. I am just comparing the layout of slots and talking about the critiques I have for the layout alone

Am I the only one
No, a moment of Googling would surely inform you that similar sentiments have been expressed countless numbers of times already over the last ten years.

Except pretty much every smartphone works exactly the same way. Considering that physically handling the SD card seems to carry a prominent risk of corrupting the SD card and rendering it unreadable, it is understandable that Nintendo would want to discourage people from removing it.

The real tragedy is that they relied on the outdated and insecure SMB1 protocol for the MicroSD Management app. Perhaps they could have enabled file transfers over a USB cable – but that would probably have introduced other, different security vulnerabilities.
