Hacking Differences between English and Chinese Firmware?

There are multiple threads erupting in chaos over the Chinese/English G6Lite issue. However, I still haven't seen a good answer:

What differences are there between the English and Chinese firmware?

Specifically:

1. Is the software you install on the PC any different (can the language be changed)?
2. What features of the G6Lite are different between the 2 firmwares?
3. Can you change any part(s) of the chinese firmware to English language?
4. If not, does it really prevent you from using the unit (is it so complicated you wouldn't know what to do?)

1. The software you install on your PC is English!
2. No difference between the Chinese firmware and the English firmware except the language.
3. No you can't! And you can only install Chinese firmwares on your chinese G6.

some pictures of the chinese version would help me... maybe the icons say all? or theres nealry no text? the text of the rom will be in its native languare surely?

if all your looking for is to play roms, then its definately easy cuz the roms names are in english, and there is an icon there. and there will probably be an instruction manual on how to use the media player, im sure in a few minutes you will learn the commands even if you cant read, they have icons on like everything.

I made a video that shows my Chinese G6 Lite. It's an awfully done video, but you can get the picture if you're interested. I didn't show it running any rom or homebrew, but they do work. I just take you around the menu interface.

I only went through the game functions because I don't use any media player, pda, movie, or music functions. I deleted the PDA folder.

wow, thats actually a kickass vid, learning that thing is easy, thanks also for saying what the options were too. I bought the eval G6L with english so when it gets here, i too will make a vid and show all menu's to compare!

Where can you find chinese software to upgrade g6 firmware to the latest?

ceevee thanks a lot for your movie!! Watching it using the card seems a lot easy. I don't have a g6 yet but, what's that gba mode? is it the only way to run gba game?

thank you, so I guess inside the G6 V4.0 Full Installation Package V4.0b there will be the english and chinese firmware, right?

in the v4.0b Full installation, you will have :
- pc software for transfer v4.0b (english, chinese, japanese and korean)
- english (english only) loader v4.0a (not installable into g6 chinese)
- chinese (chinese only) loader v4.0a (installable into g6 chinese)
