Like khaderwelaye says, tueidj changed the verification method from rev. 200 to be able to play gc games on a wii u.

The verification should now also be stored in the wiimote, as long as you use the same wiimote and usb storage device and leave the dvv files on the sd/usb (that you also take with you), it should work.

Does it actually store anything inside the remote, or does it just use the unique address of the remote when creating the verification file? Reading up on this, I feel like it's the latter, but everyone says the former.
If it really doesn't work, then perhaps this mode of verification doesn't work between two Wiis that are both able to read GameCube discs.

Then allow me to break this trend by saying I believe it is the latter. :P

It shouldn't make a difference since this technique is also used on the Family Wii, and the Family Wii can actually read GC discs if you use a disc expander adapter.

yeah, I'm pretty sure it just stores the Wiimotes' ID's in the verification file on the SD / USB drive.

You DO have to make sure when moving to a different Wii with the same Wiimotes that it's using the SAME drive you verified the games on originally since copying the verification files from one drive to another invalidates the verification.

On another Wii, it'll still ask for verification but the verification process is now just connecting the authorized Wiimote instead of inserting the disk.

Started trying out USB Loader GX afterward, seems to be working well. Need to figure out some things still, like how to make it stop complaining about there being no USB device every time I start it up. All I've got is this 8 GB SD, isn't that good enough for you??!
I'll see if I can add a setting to disable USB mounting at launch.

By me as well; thank you, Cyan!

I'm amused by how that graphic inexplicably says "Pikmin Four" on the right side.

I was wondering if someone could help me I am having trouble verifying discs. the game i am trying to verify is THPS3 NTSC, i ripped the game via clean rip, plugged my usb back into my pc moved the iso to games so devo would see it. I check and it was dumped correctly but whenever i put it in to verify it just keeps spinning and the game wont start

Is it only that game? Does your dump's hash match with redump.org? Is your Wii's disc drive hardware modified at all? Is the disc scratched or otherwise dirty?

Did you try the sample loader, aka the one that comes with Devolution? If it works with that then it's something with the loader, not your game.

Just an FYI, for the sample loader, put your ISO files in SD:/games or USB:/games - do not put them inside any sub-folders.

Also note, if you're not using a gamecube controller, the controls for launching a game via the sample loader is a bit wonky. The easiest alternative is to use a wiimote where X = 2 and Y = 1 and Start = Home.
