Hacking Delete user without updating

Hello, so i purchased a switch and there is a user still on the switch. When i go to delete user it says i need to do a system update. Is there a way to do this without updating the switch? Thank you

The first thing you should do after buying a used Switch is format the device.

Somebody correct me if I am wrong, but I believe a format only requires an internet connection but not an update.
