David Jaffe dropping more hints about next gen portables

Jaffe is the only person in the industry who still thinks Sony is a contender in the portable market. And that's of course because he works with them. Everyone else has given up on the company, and rightfully so. They covertly used piracy to promote the PSP and wound up burning tons of devs in the process. A lot of people lost their shirts making PSP games. Dev costs are much higher on the PSP than they are on the DS.

The DS left the PSP in its dust and never looked back. The PSP is a thing of the past.

The future is all about Apple and Nintendo. Sony is no longer considered a serious contender. This is basically the general consensus throughout the dev community. Most of them gave up on PSP a long time ago. The next portable war will be Apple vs Nintendo.

I highly doubt Apple can even compete with Nintendo...Nintendo will continue dominating both the console and handheld wars i mean look the Wii is dominating the PS3 and Xbox360 and without the best of graphics imagine when Nintendo decides to start making games with graphics that are just as good as Sony & Microsoft the sales will only go higher and higher for Nintendo.Nintendo has always controlled the handheld market and i doubt that will change in the near future if ever...

Its not mentioned anywhere it will have Dual Screens right?

My guess is yes, I don't think they'll drop the DS games so fast.

Not just that, a lot of people, mainly kids, like the touch screen based games, and that's what the DS is best at for them. Ninty won't give up on the dual screens as long as these games are still being sold, I guess.

I do wonder about Nintendo mantaining the 2-screen paradigm. They always like to keep their consoles fresh and with new ideas, which makes for a strange situation, seeing as switching to one touch-sensitive screen is an instant backward compatibikity breaker. I do not think that the DS' successor will be compatible with DS games. I hope I am wrong, though.

Is Apple a gaming company? I so wouldnt like to see Apple in E3 nor to be called "handheld maker"

This would be interesting to see both Sony and Nintendo having similar products.

Now, if anyone would remember that Sony did say "Touchscreens are so gimicky". lol. If Sony will make touchscreen PSP, they're so dead right now

Usually around June sometime; If Sony are trying to play down Nintendo's route, Zelda, Pokemon, Mario etc...are not under Sony's name, what the hell are they doing? Make your bloody handheld different from your competitor to stand any chance X_x Seriously I see Nintendo blowing them away in the dust if it does turn out to be quite similar.

I'd LOL so hard if the ds2 actaully was the one to have better graphics of the two.

The thing is though, a majority of the big games made by Nintendo don't use the touch screen aside from the likes of Zelda. Personally, I don't like the touch screen that much and would sooner have an analog stick, and yes I own both a DS and a PSP Go, out of the two the PSP wins from a control standpoint, though the analog stick is a bit fickle at times.

The iPad and Touch are not even remotely close to gaming devices, they are extremely primitive in control functionality without buttons and some form of graphics chip.

A lot of people see Sony as being dead in the portable gaming scene but anyone remember when Nintendo where worse off in the home console scene?

PSP has done amazingly well, game sales...not so.

That's true but Nintendo has always controlled the handheld market and i doubt anything Sony does can stop Nintendo from doing what they do best.Sony had control on the console market but lost it which means Nintendo figured it out finally and now they aren't going to look back they're winning by a large margin and i think Nintendo will only continue to get better.Sony better figure it out fast though.

Well if you look at recent sales, the PS3 is bouncing back pretty fast. I mean sure the Wii hasn't been dethroned or even close to it, but Sony isn't giving up without a fight.

FYI, I don't really want to bring this argument back, but you have to differentiate between true gamers and people who buy DS Lites for other uses. I know a friend who bought it solely for the Japanese Kanji dictionary thing, and if I remember right there were schools which bought it for learning purposes? That doesn't really make a handheld market does it?

but the same thing can be said about the PSP i know a lot of people who dont even own any games for their PSP they use it for music or internet browsing and i mean props to Nintendo for selling a bunch of DS to schools for learning purposes they found a way to make their handheld educational as well as fun...most "true gamers" now a days think that graphics make a game most people now grew up with graphics already on their games so if its not the best graphics they dont want to play it i honestly think that Call of Duty Modern Warfare on Wii is better then the PS3/Xbox360/PC versions even though it doesnt look as good i have more FUN playing with my perfect shot then playing with a controller/keyboard.

its always the DS tht comes forward bcz its games are very much for the audience it is aimed at and tht more english games are released for it
BUT now the PSP is gaining good fame and it wouldnt be surprising to see extreme competition like the wii,ps3,and xbx
