Miranda IM looked nice to me..
But now that I've installed it, and set things up, it's far too complex.

..plus the DA page with the sexy skins won't load now. XD

Back to Trillian!
(Unless Miranda happens to have video chat support.. anyone know?)

Seems like a shame though. X64 is supposed to improve performance.
Not really. You'll get a marginal boost in processing efficiency if the app has a version compiled specifically for x64, not nearly enough to warrant the issues included in switching to an x64 based operating system (especially one as poorly developed as XP x64).

The only reason that x64 should be considered is if you need the 4GB+ of RAM, which very, very few people do (professional video editing would be one, or a high-load server).

Guys, I'm going to do a rewrite on my customization tutorial. I'm not really happy enough with how it came out so I'll probably get to it in the weekend.

I've used most Objectbar's for Windows, and find that ObjectDock Plus is the best one by far, mostly because of tabs, and styling options. I use it along with DesktopX (free version) from Stardock (No I don't pay, I pirated, duh~!)

I also use Rainmeter, with skins because the original looks horrible. I find this combination to work great, and it uses almost no CPU speed, so it's nice.

Great Stuff flai, could you also add Samurize to the list under Windows, its great if you know how to configure it, look how kick ass you can make it look like http://www.samurize.com/modules/myalbum/photo.php?lid=3899, i use it all the time, also Fences from Stardock is proving to be pretty impressive aswell

And like wabsta said a few posts above shell replacements, some like SharpE are pretty darn good and cool
