ROM Hack Question Custom Minecraft: BE Skins?

I read a thread (wont let me post due to me being a new member) showing how to get custom skins on Minecraft for switch. I tried it out, made my own custom skin pack, game wont let me change skins since it says I need to be connected to online services.

Is there any other way to get custom skins? Tried searching around and couldn't find an answer to my question.

not all versions of Bedrock support custom skins, so you are kinda SOL
