Apple Custom boot icon?and openiboot?

So now that limera1n is released and is a bootrom exploit we should be able to get custom boot icons right?I kinda want the limera1n symbol(nicer of course) as a boot icon and wondering how to do this?I am sure its not done yet I just want to know how you would install it. And has the team(assuming they are a team) announced porting openiboot to the iPod touch 3rd gen?

You can't

Since limera1n also uses comex's userland exploit.

Userland means you cannot change the bootlogo

But I thought since it was a bootrom exploit you could?I thought that comexs userland exploit was just to untether it.why can a first gen can then?

We could have custom boot logos, but that would require the jailbreak to be tethered. greenpois0n and limera1n currently utilize two exploits: geohot's bootrom exploit (which is tethered by itself) and comex's userland exploit (used to make the jailbreak untethered). If it were an iBoot exploit instead of userland, it might be a different story.

Unfortunately, I don't see OpeniBoot coming to the iPod touch 3G for a while.

Anywho, limera1n and greenpois0n don't offer the use of custom boot logos. So there is no way to do it unless it will accept a Custom IPSW

From what I see here a bootrom exploit has excess to the iboot.

A userland exploit exists inside of the actual operating system (i.e.- viewing a malformed image in Safari). An iBoot exploit resides in... well... iBoot. iBoot is the second stage bootloader of the iOS boot chain.

When I jailbroke with greenpois0n, the first boot was a verbose boot... But it mentioned that it would not do that again. Boot logos should work, but if you update and you get tethered, would you even get to see it, or does it go straight to dfu mode?

I found the app the does it on older devices it's called logome.it hasn't been updated since 2.2 firmware.I wonder if they will update it now.

The first generation of iDevices use a different bootrom exploit that totally circumvents security measures and allows untethered jailbreaks. This exploit was patched from the iPod touch 2G onward.

Ok so if say you used linera1n and SHAtter together would that be able to be unteathered bottom exploit that can't be patched and used to do custom boot icons? I was really looking forward to a custom boot icon...if I jailbreak a iPod touch first gen with star I can't do custom boot icons right?

No. limera1n doesn't use SHAtter, and probably never will.

Unfortunately, jailbreaking an iPod touch 1G with Star will not allow custom boot logos, but you could use redsn0w 0.9.4.

No I mean if you use both exploits together...and I am jailbreaking a girl I knows iPod touch on Friday but I won't have a computer to jailbreak it with but there is wifi where we are...so I just wanted to know..
