Hacking current wii u software version

like the title says, whats the current UK wii u software version,

i have a 32gb wii u on fw version 5.5.0,

i'd like to update to 5.5.1, i'm just unsure if its safe to do it via Nintendo update service, i don't want to go above 5.5.1 for homebrew reasons

Current update is 5.5.1. You can update, as now

Wii-U hasn't had an update in over a year.
You can always check their official list for new updates. (Wii-U Update List)

I'd say update now because there MAY be a new update when Breath of The Wild comes out.
