Homebrew Ctr-httpwn and Sun/Moon

i heard the mtheall servers are back, so I tested it out by getting that Muchlax in Sun/Moon. It worked perfectly! Every other Internet based thing on the 3DS works too, like the eShop

But then when I go into Festival Plaza and trying to connect to GTS I get the "requires a system update" message. Is this suppose to happen? It only happens with Sun/Moon.

Old 3ds reboot when launching sun/moon due to the extended data the game requires, which turns off ctrhttpwn
The munchlax doesn't need any bypass or update to get it, you can try it yourself without ctrhttpwn only by connecting to the internet, you can still receive the munchlax from the server
In other words, you didn't get the munchlax because of ctrhttpwn, Nintendo didn't block mystery gift receiveing

Ah, know I get it. That sucks then. Luckily I do have an extra 3DS that is updated, so I can just play it on there if I want to trade.

At least I can get mystery gifts though! So there's a silver lining

You don't connect to Nintendo for Mystery Gifts. Which is why people with NNID and online bans can still get them.

That's because of the extended memory mode that the old 3DS uses. The n3DS doesn't use it when playing games like Sm4sh or Sun/Moon.
