Forgive me if this is in the wrong area or if this has been posted somewhere else. I just had a crazy idea for save editing on gen 5 Pokémon games.
So we have found out by extracting saves other ways that the gen 5 saves include the files for the c-gear skin the pokédex skin and the play's. Before save extracting on those games you had to use Pokémon global link to change all of those features. Therefore Pokémon global link would be a real time save editor? If someone could figure out how that worked we could have a real time save editor for gen 5 games by making a fake global link where the game thinks it's connected to the real global link! Idk I was just thinking about this before bed and I had to get this idea out there. Also I know nothing about coding and that's another reason why I posted here. If anyone would give there thoughts on this that would be great!

Depends on whether the global link has full read/write access to the save data or if it can only access the things it needs like the skins.

I believe the C Gear skin was only updated on the part of the save that stores that info.

Why bother anyway?

U can dump saves from original games of 4/5th gen using Slot 2, FTP/ Wi-Fi methods or a 3DS.

One thing that just occurred to me.... The sound on the 2600 sucked less back then the harsh sound we hear now is from infinitely better speakers we have now, back when the 2600 was new speakers produced a almost muffled sound, like CRTs made old graphics look slightly better.
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
I wonder if I could recommend that to some emulation devs that perhaps the sound could use some smoothing out to simulate those old TVs
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
I think a few of the early systems could benefit from that, at least up to the 8 bit generation, by the 16 bit generation I think TVs had gotten a lot better in almost every way
