WTF!!! jesus christ, I been keeping an eye on all loaders from day one, not interested in using one yet as everything is catalogued on disc, but liking seeing the progress, the only thing that bothers me on this progression is the dimwits that come and and a comment which turns to shit, not being funny, this loader might not have every option in the world but its the cleanest and most attractive one so far, looks more professional then one thrown together with loads of images here and there.

What else would be helpful if those comments are just ignored instead of retaliation.

Cdreams and Don K, so far the project for me is the one I want the finished product of, I know it will take time and I don't care how long you spend tweaking it as I prefer something finished rather than a testing item.

Buckle down and ignore the stupid fuckers in here, if they wanna complain let them make their own code and use there own backgrounds etc.

Sorry, I can't keep up with who is working on this project. But it looks like it is finally coming together.
@ Whoever is coding this..
Have you thought about loading all 7 pics into memory and drawing them all at once? It would make them all suddenly appear rather than pop up left to right. If that's what you are going for then just ignore me.

Here is what I'm talking about...

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qHkOqrVbw7w
Anyways, keep it up. Whatever you're doing now is working.

i'm just showing here to tell you that i won't drop this loader.

i had an "argument" with you know who that got me mad.
he edited his post less than 10 minutes later not to look like a jerk, but i did read it as several users. so know it looks like it wasn't meant to diss, but your 1st post did.
you just opened my eyes: some members here are just a bunch of assholes and will hate whatever the subject.
i'm cool with it anyway, some try to help, others just sit and diss.
it's all good, i'aint trippin on you haters, i won't drop the project but i won't work on it like i used to. i ain't gonna spend my free time with this anymore.

it was fun getting back to c dev after all those years of break (i mainly do web coding such as java/php/mysql).

i might still release what i've done, i still need some feedback from 2 members (Sledge1 & MickeyBlue) but they didn't even downloaded the test file yet. so nothing is gonna pop out till i hear from them.

actually the alpha 4 can do the followings:
QUOTE said:
- faster code.
- fixed the "abort called" bug when scrolling through +30 games.
- a faster way to load and display the 7 pictures... i also figured a new way that might even improve it.
- downsized the boot.dol from almost 3M to 474kb.
- updated to waninoko's usbloader v1.5, so non working games should now be working.
- use our own artwork instead of the native pictures of usbloader when there's a path error (with a line stating that there's an error with paths not to get confused).
- improved the config.txt with a new arguments:
you can now edit the text/background colors (to match a theme for example, see the config_sample.txt for more).
- added the save/discard game settings (video/language/ocarina per game settings).
- now displays the game name/id/size and also how many games are installed on hd with game/free size in the option screen.
- added Force PAL50/PAL60/NTSC (thx to Narolez).
- added more hdd compatiblity fix (thx to Narolez).
- game's name is now centered...
- game's list are now ordered alphabetically...
- use up and down arrows to scroll through a page (left and right to scroll one title at a time).

like i already said i'm planning the followings:
QUOTE- widescreen support.
- switch between the black/white theme within the setting screen.
- add background music.
- add wiilight snippets to enable the wii's blue light (near the dvd) to glow for specific actions).
- restore the advanced/safe method to allow/prevent actions like installing/removing/fomatting.
- true type font to have a nice font that shows the game's name (i won't drop the conole in the settings for now as i don't see the point).
- an option for your prefered games to show first in the config.txt (oggzee/hungy already did it, i just have to user their code if they don't mind) and add games through the settings.
- the ability to run your games off usb/sd/dvd like sorg's new loader, i found that idea so great that i wanted to implement it: an all in one loader booting straight from a channel/forwarder or from the preloader!

By the way, to all that are concerned with this statement, stop throwing ideas i won't code them. ask that awesome scene oldtimer to do the job as he's one of the "best coder around as i can code such things in no time as they're damn to easy... if i ever get into coding again".

@Shadow
Wooah lol whats with the psychedelic colors everywhere?

The loader is based on 1.4 for alpha3 which you can currently get from the 1st post. The alpha4 that Don Killah just mentons will be based off Waninkoko's 1.5 loader

@Don Killah
Hey mate, nice to see you back. i think both of us need to just plod along with stuff at our own pace and offer what we have done. Constructive criticism is welcome and helps improve the loader to be more appealing.

I have backgrounds almost finished for widescreen for when your ready so just let me know and I'll send your way. I like the ordering idea of pressing up or down to change sets and left or right to change games one by one. What do you think about my idea with the scrollbar, would it even be possible at some stage, and what about IR support?

I'm really glad both of you will keep working on this. With the features already implemented and half of that to do list it would already be perfect for me (he said selfishly)

Big grin at: "best coder around as i can code such things in no time as they're damn to easy... if i ever get into coding again"

Could you repeat that last post Don Killah? I didn't quite get it ;-)

what are you talking about?
who do you think you are? what do you know about me?
a so called retired asm coder? fine... i am too. but the diff between me and you is that i ain't left the scene.

it's guys just like you that make coders wanna drop projects from the community.

Like i said to another old time atari/amiga scener:
Don Killah said:
well well well... i'm one of the guys who is helping with such coverflow loaders (Coverflow7) and i have to say, that even if you don't want to upset anyone mate... you've just started a war in here^^

i'm might be one of the oldest in here, check when i've signed in: back in 2002.
i knew this forum when some of you were still little kids.
i'm a coder, yep, i admit it but dealing with asm/delphi/java/javascript/php and the like are my fav languages... i don't really like the C/C#/C++ world.

but i'm a coder, so i can code whatever the language and was part of the scene you're talking about.

it all started back in 1991 (when i was 15) and had my atari 1040STE and later my Amiga 600.
on both of them i was part of the scene: i started as game cracker (who ever heard about Rob Northern's proctection... yep raise your hand... nobody? oh excuse me, you're too young!), so i've learned 6800's assembly, cracking and then coding.
i've joined one of the biggest crew here down in France Replicants/Fuzion. Rep being the cracking team and Fuzion the coding/release team.
we released plenty of dentros/multiparts/music discs/4ktros , had hundreds of releases and being in touch with the backbone of the scene at awesome coding parties through europe.
it was the best part of my childhood.

so believe me, when dealing with the scene, i know what i'm talking about.

unfortunatly, such a scene doesn't exists for the wii. we have talented coders and graphists too but nothing like the amiga/atari scene.
i know what you meant, believe me... but some people here might find it a little bit harsh.
and this, because most of us are doing this on their spare time, i myself have a really busy professionnal life and i don't even talk about my private one.

just let the guys do what they can, we can always have some designers do the job later.
this said, i'm off to coding.

but you know what? you succeeded, fine i ain't gonna release shit.
you got me mad mate, i can't believe that i've spent so many hours of my private life with this and get slapped in the face by a nobody...

damn... i just can't believe it.
Lol, how can you compare ASM to those high-level languages. And how can you even dislike C, while you like ASM. You can't know ASM if you don't know C.

@Don Killah, about time someone responded u all ignored the last 2 times i have posted the same question on this thread.

@cdreams:
i did get your pms mate, and i want you to know that i 100% do agree with you: i do enjoy the kinda way we work as well as other members in this post (exchanging ideas and see if they're codable, may profit to all of us... or not). i got no beef with you or AB, i'd even say that i respect anyone's skills be it coding/gfx or ideas.
for the scollbar, we can tweak it or use a fresh libwiigui template to start it all over from scratch. but i'm done with coding for today.

@katrem:
that guy came up and just started to diss cdreams and me, along with the project and said that he was an old coder from the late 90's demo scene (as i am, but he didn't knew it). and also that he left coding a while ago but that he could code a coverflow effect in no time and make the best loader in no time as he's a super coder... if he ever have the time to get into coding again.

pathetic.

@Shadow#1:

oh sorry mate, i missed them. once again sorry.

@Bapao:

typicall no coder nonsense... all those so called computer high level languages will be turned into machine code/opcodes by the compilers. so all language ends up to be asm.
if you know c, you can do whatever you want. if you knwo asm you're the boss, i'm a cracker too, so i know what i'm talking about.
plus i said that i don't really like it, because i prefer java/php for my every day job.

not yet released but to 2 members here. i wait for some feedback 1st then i might consider uploading it or not.
i'm off and back to real life as it seems that some people don't really like what i've been doing.
so should i waste my time anymore.

see you guys.

I like what you are doing, but I dont want to use a laoder, that is based on 1.4, when 1.5 is out

I know Don Killah, I read those posts. I think he even said he had to laugh at how simple it would be to add certain things. Maybe it would be but I don't think anyone who has actually ever coded in his life would voice that in such a way. I don't know any coder that doesn't show respect or at least encouragement for other peoples work.

My 'didn't quite get' was aimed at your overly clear reply to Shadow#1, whose previous posts probably just got lost in all the crazy posts...

Well maybe it's something for later. The idea I was having was, I make two images for the scrollbar. One for when it's not being used/hovered over and one for when it is.

The first one would be invisible on the main page and all you would see is those 5 dots below the main image, but then when you point over the dots with the remote, the scroll bar would show below the games, kind of like it's glowing. Then you can press A and drag it left or right and it would scroll through the games in that direction. The closer to the edge you get, the faster it would scroll. So if you had it all the way dragged to the right for instance it would scroll through the games pretty fast, allowing for larger libraries to be accommodated. Maybe this would be too much on the loader and processor, but hopefully it's possible.

However that isn't that important, the way you have it now works fine and with the new ability to change alphabetically and using the up and down, then it's doing that already kind of.

Someone mentioned earlier what could be good that I kind of liked the idea, was see when you are in the setting page, where I have the Wiimote picture, having that with the current selected game box, maybe in the 3D style even and the settings your choosing are for that game. That would be nice, but maybe it means complicated code as it would be like two loaders running in one. It's like one of the other loaders, but this would be the settings page instead and still leaves the front page nice and clean. Again maybe it's possible for later.

Finally, where it has For Options Press B at the bottom right of the page, I have made an icon, that glows when hovered over, so if you get IR implemented then that could be used instead, saves having text there as it's pretty explanatory what the icon is. It could have a clicked on state with a sound possibly.

These are all just ideas I have been thinking about, so if they can't be done it's no biggy, but if they can but need to wait till later then it's just good to know and something to work towards.

Hi mates! I have been trying to find ideas to reach our Coverflow effect, and i think (I really hope...^^) we are not any more far from it with the Caroussel project.

Don killah, you got PM mate!

Besides my sugestion to remember the last game started and focus on it in the next start of the loader, when we pres the up or down button, the list could be advanced by all next covers (like next page)...
this would make scroll easier....

Well, untill now Caroussel (we have the source for it...yeh yeh^^) is only runnig on PC, asbelow:

@PNo4: thanks for sharing ideas, i looked up your links but there only executables and no sources... Am i wrong??

This looks very nice.

Can I ask one thing (which has probably been asked already) ... why is there an sd:\apps\usbloaderdk folder AND an sd:\usb-loaderab folder ? Could the images and config stuff for the app not go in the usbloaderdk folder as well ?
