Homebrew Could anyone write a ButtonSwap3DS tutorial?

I need a few buttons swapped around for a friend who's R button doesn't work (it's for Luigi's Mansion 3D so kinda need it). The ButtonSwap3DS thread is confusing enough with nothing being made abundantly clear and most of it being tucked away in spoilers and then the FAQ is on the 16th or so page and it adds on a GUI version or something and it only makes it more confusing. If anyone can make a full guide that's concise and neat I'd much appreciate it. If anyone would be willing to at least guide me to making the button swap work, I would be more than happy to write a tutorial of my own and start another thread with said tutorial. Thanks.

if your friend has a gamepad like xbox 360, xbox 1, then you can follow the rosalina luma 3ds input redirection client so he can use it on his 3ds! he will just need a computer and internet on hand

i dont know what is that. but if he has another kind of gamepad like ps3, ps4 or even generic pads he can map them as x360 controllers and use them as 3ds controllers!
