Kinda new to WiiU modding, so basically I have mocha cfw installed (no haxchi), I have recently bought a y cable for my usb. My WiiU detects the usb (When I go to my data management, it shows my 938gb usb there), but when I go to install a game in wupinstaller, it says "error 0xFFFCFFE9" or something along those lines, idk, that was off the top of my head xD. and it says "no usb storage attached?", I've tried turning off my WiiU and turning it back on, to come to no result.

(Doing SD Card > USB)

I have the game file in SDCard > Install > The Legend of Zelda Twilight Princess HD

Could also be a bad download of the game where did you get the game from. You should use something like USB download helper to get your game as it checks all files are correct and if not it redownloads them until it confirms they are correct.

I got the game from WiiU USB Helper, I had my usb in the lower slot of the WiiU if that were to make a difference, I formatted with the wiiu yes xD.
I'm about to download wup installer 1.3 y mod rn, I'll post my results ina bit.

If you were just using wup installer that is why it did not work you need to use y mod or gx mod

My main problem is the fact that it won't detect my usb... It shows my usb on datamanagement, but when I download to usb, it gives me an error saying no usb.

Hmm? I thought you were supposed to put one usb into a wall outlet, then one into the wii u. I'm using a "MyPassport" Portable USB

I haven't come across a 5v 2.5" laptop style HDD that would require a real power supply like that. I'm surprised it doesn't just work with 1 cable plugged into one of the wii u's usb ports.

But yeah, make sure you've got the main USB cable plugged into the bottom/back USB port, then just plug the secondary cable into the top/back USB port.

I suppose it could also be a compatibility problem, since it is 1TB. I personally use a 500GB HDD I pulled out of my old laptop

I tried that, doesn't work, I put it back into the outlet, works, I tried it again, it's weird, it shows up, then it stops showing up a few seconds later, but, it still shows in data management, but, still gives me the same "no usb storage attached" error

It sounds like it's a poor connection. Maybe the Y cable you bought isn't really good? Do you know what the My Passport drive is called, brand and version?

Perhaps swap the usb plugs? If the main plug is at the bottom then try it out at the top. The other usb goes into the adjacent slot.

that's what I tried the first time, I tried it out the other way as well. I don't understand why WUP isn't detecting it, whilst it shows it in data management.

Plug the hard drive back into your computer and reformat it to Fat32 with Fat32gui and plug it back into the Wii U and try again.

Ok, about to format my hard drive. Thanks for all the advice btw. I turned off sleep mode and tried doing the installation, same problem.

Thanks so much for the advice again <3

Before you do any more troubleshooting with multiple variables, go into data managment and try copying a couple titles over to the USB drive. That way you're not dealing with anything other than a stock WiiU and a hard drive.

If that works, try installing a small title from SD to system memory, then move that new title to USB. If you're still good, remove the title.tik file from sd:/install/gamename and try installing that title again, but this time to USB. If small titles work, but large ones fail, you might still have bad downloads, a bad SD, bad usb drive, insufficient power/bad y cable, or sleep issues.
