Just finished building a new computer and for whatever reason, it won't turn on when I press the power button. The PSU is on too, and also connected to everything, so I'm pretty baffled. Can anyone help?

How many watts is your psu?

If you have a lot power hungry hardware the psu needs to be powerful enough to administer the energy.

Though I'm not claiming thats the issue here.

any other info would be greatly appreciated.

Well I just finished building it, the PSU is 550W which is more than enough. The CPU is a 3.4GHz quad and the GPU is an ATi RadeonHD5770. All I can really say is everything is plugged in, the PSU switch is on and pressing the power button doesn't do dick.

Yeah, everything is plugged in right. And it doesn't seem like anything is getting power.

Maybe take a video or some photos of your mobo & psu and all of the connections and maybe someone can point out something.

Is it a new or old PSU? It might be faulty.

I'm not sure how old the model is, but the item itself is brand new.

Do you have a voltmeter? Because then you could check if power is coming through.

Sounds like the PSU is dead. The fan would at least spin up in the PSU when the computer was switched on if everything was hooked up right.

This may be slightly ridiculous but is the PSU plugged into the wall and is it turned on? [IMG]

Do you have a nother PSU you could maybe try from another pc?

Yeh there's your problem, a dead PSU.
Can't you get a new one/ refund then if you just got it? If not you can get cheap ones online for about $20-$50 depending on the power you want.

It's a 2009 model but the company is liquidating. Though if I went to NCIX where I bought it, they'll probably give me a new one.
