I've seen tons of post on these forums with people having various issues with Gx.
It could be that more people use Gx than CFG. My first loader was Gx, so I like it. IMHO the difference between CFG and GX is the coverflow, Its my son who plays wii and he likes Gx even though daddy made 3 loaders available.

Installing Gx's own forwarder is not that complicated. You just download the whole package (all in one) from the link given on the sticky of this section. unzip it copy the apps folder to your first partition (which is Fat 32, if you have more than one partition or one FAT 32). You can load it with homebrew channel. Once everything works smoothly install the forwarder wad, using a Wad Manager 1.7, which I prefer..

I have nothing against XFlak wonderful Modmii but when I looked at it last (~2 months ago) it was pro CFG, pro WBM etc.

thanks guys! when I get my hdd I should be able to get going on something. It's 500gbytes and I don't need it right now for anything else. Hopefully I'll get it going because once I get the new Zelda game I won't be doing much else (I was a kid when putting 10bucks in the pacman arcade game was a fun saturday - I grew up with zelda so I've been waiting for a while). thanks, I'll let you know how it goes.

IT WORKED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Thanks guys. Your help was just what I needed. I put wii sports and super mario bros on and they both worked perfectly (I put 400 gigs as fat32, and the rest as NTFS or whatever that is, so I'd have some hard drive for some other stuff when I travel). Anyway, I'm grateful for all your help. Now when we go to family on thanksgiving I won't have to worry about the nieces and nephews breaking my disks when we take our wii (grandma doesn't have a wii).

ok, I had my first problem. I loaded a few games and played each for just a few minutes and all was good. Then, when I tried to copy Donkey Kong Jungle Beat to my hdd (from my wii with the loader I got on modmii) it would go through the copy or install process but when it got to about 35% it puts a screen full of read errors. Then it appears as one of my installed games, but when you select it it locks up the wii. I have to unplug it to reset it. Any ideas? I looked at the compatibility list and it appears this game should work. The notes say: "wii 4.2U, USBLoaderGX r919, cios38r19. No issues with Configurable USB Loader" which I have no idea what it means. Any ideas?

Are you using GX? You could play that game from the disc (i.e. no scratches in it?). Your system is 4.3U? Now, you have set it up properly, you might want to google hippy freak, tehparadox.

Well if it got to 35% and then gave a bunch of errors, then I would assume it didn't dump it correctly. Try deleting it and installing it to the hard drive again.

BTW, you don't have to unplug the Wii, you can just hold down the power button for about 5 secs to force it to shut down.
