Well....I did all that stuff I said in my above reply, even trying it in the R4. Still get that blasted error crap. I'm deleting this until the dude actually makes it work in a version 1.1 or whatever he ends up callling it.

Here's a question to everyone:

Did you get it to work? Seems like the consensus thus far is that it partially works (loads up to the game select menu) but that's it. I can get Loading... up on the top screen, but either an error or the whole thing locks up on me. I presume it's the same for Rayder, who is the only one to try it apart from me in this topic.

I'm using an M3 Perfect SD and I did DLDI patch it.

Mine works just fine, read the readme.

Create a folder named whatever you like, I named it Commander Keen. In this folder put the .nds that comes with the homebrew. Then put all the files that come with Keen1 , Keen2, and Keen3 in the same folder. Make sure the files are all capitalized (they should be automatically, because tahts how the game files are). Then put it on your flashcard anywhere and it works fine. (I set all the files except the .nds to hidden so I wouldn't have to see all those files).

It was easy to set up and get running for me. I have it running on an SCDS1.

If your having problems you set it up wrong or didnt dldi patch (if your card doesnt support auto dldi).

You don't really need the SAVED01.CK(2 or 3) files.

Bump.

I think you do actually. I tried Keen 3 and accidently omitted a 'SAVED4.CK3' (I was looking at the Keen 2 file list). So I got the menu and the error message. With all the save files on there, it definitely works. edit: on an R4.

Apart from the glitchy sprite(s), and sound. Any news on an update?

For everyone who can't get the game to run and keeps getting that error.

Here's what I did that fixed the problem.

First of all, the file list in the readme is incomplete. There is a level17 in the first commander keen. You need 4 saveme files for each game. So make sure you have these 16 files on the card. (They can all just be copies of the same file, it doesnt matter)

LEVEL17.CK1

SAVED1.CK1
SAVED2.CK1
SAVED3.CK1
SAVED4.CK1

SAVED1.CK2
SAVED2.CK2
SAVED3.CK2
SAVED4.CK2

SAVED1.CK3
SAVED2.CK3
SAVED3.CK3
SAVED4.CK3

Other than that, just as a precaution, I kept the folder name capitalised and under 8 characters, so its KEEN. You don't have to put the game in your root folder. I'm using an M3 and I used the NDS file in slot1. The game runs fine now.
