Codec Media Player

What is the best media player that plays divx/avi Videos? I have windows media player 11 and it won't play Codec videos. So i went to the divx website and i downloaded their codec that enables you to play divx videos on windows media player, but after i did that it slowed my computer down.

I know it wasn't the codec, what slowed it down was all the other things i downloaded, like the divx media player, codec converter and codec web player. I thought all these will be ok to download, but one of these devices really slowed my computer down.

My question is, is there is a media player that already has codec included in its media player(without having to download it) and it plays divx/avi videos and it won't slow down the computer? Or should i have just downloaded codec only without all the other programs(divx media player, codec converter and codec web player).


I have a PC not mac.

You could download VLC player. That plays EVERYTHING.

Also, if you don't like that, you could download CCCP. The Combined Community Codec Pack.
If you install that, you can use WMP to play any file.

It was just a slight dig at VLC.

As I said before, VLC isn't what I use since I much prefer CCCP.
VLC is pretty crappy when it comes to netbooks. CoreAVC handles 720p perfectly.

I didn't.

Again, what I said in my first post, VLC is what you want for simplicity.
You have to do a bit more if you want CCCP+CoreAVC set up.

VLC now comes with an Apple spyware : bonjour.exe

Why Apple develop a spyware for Windows? simple :
officially it "Allows you to print with Apple Colours". But which colours? You can't print the colours you want on a photo? it changes it automatically? it's absurd.
really, it's used to "make network discovery and share easier". It was never needed to share network, why would it be now?

I really don't like software packed with other brand's tools without giving any words about it.

Maybe it's the past and they fixed it?
It's too late for me, they had bad behaviors against their users it's enough for me to stop using it.


Also, VLC doesn't support styled subtitles. Maybe also fixed in recent releases?
Doesn't load default subtitle automatically. (you have to change settings to force subtitle language).


Try Media player Classic with CCCP + Core AVC. (Though, MPC is not GUI-user friendly)
Or like I'm using BS Player + CCCP (+CoreAVC if your computer is not powerful for hx64 codecs). BSplayer can set codec priority, if you want to enable/disable CoreAVC even with FFDshow installed.
