Hello all, hope everyone's having a great day. I was hoping someone could lend a bit of help/insight as to why I can't for the life of me get CHMM to work. Just got my sky3ds today for my N3DS ver. 9.1.0-20J. sky3ds --> cubic ninja --> homebrew. so far, so good. I went to download CHMM2 (I also tried the earlier version) and place the files in the proper directories on my microSD card. filenames matching folder names and everything. CHMM2 appears in the homebrew menu, but as soon as I run it I get a red screen on the bottom, some code on the top (for about half a second), and then nothing but two black screens. At this point I can't do anything. Pressing Home, Power, anything, just does absolutely nothing. I have to perform a hard shutoff (holding down the power button). Again, with the correct files in the correct folders, and even the most recent boot.3dsx from smea, I don't see why it's not working. If anyone could at least point me in the right direction I'd certainly be grateful. Thanks you in advance.

Edit: I've been searching for answers for the past hour or so, and I'm still looking. So I don't want anyone to think that I'm just waiting to be spoon-fed the answers. I have no problem doing research of my own for problem solving, but right now I've got nothing, and I'm not any closer to finding what's wrong.

Other homebrew apps work fine. Unfortunately I don't have a retail cartridge of Cubic Ninja (seeing as how it's about the same price as Sky3DS and I'd get more bang for my buck with sky). But you're right it could be an issue related to Sky3DS. I'll keep searching/trying different methods.

It could be sky3ds related. I have sky3ds as well. All my other hbs works. But not chmm... but chmm did work for me long time ago. I must have been playing with Ninjhax 1.1b then..

Well unless I find another way to install themes without using the e-shop I might have to break down and buy the retail cartridge. Thank you for the quick replies!

If you use directly retail cartridge you'll surely be fine.

Yeah, perhaps it is sky3ds.. But I'm like TS. I bought a sky3ds instead of Cubic ninja. It was almost the same price then. So I won't buy Cubic ninja. Chmm version 1 works sometimes. So I'll use the old one. It's ok for me. Even though I would love to have shuffling on :)

I don't think this is the problem, if so sky could be detected easily.

I'll try chmm2 on my O3DSXL fw 10 with Ironhax tomorrow! :)
It works on ironhax 9.9 as I tested.
You don't need to try it because the reason can be sky of version 9.1- so what you should check is if it work on cubic ninja retail. Or with tubehax on 9.1

I think the problem here is theme shuffle was introduced in 9.2 and not 9.1 so this feature might screw up. Why not just emunand it to 9.9?

I haven't been gaming for such a long time. Been mostly busy with sleep, hardware tinkering and checking GBAtemp frequently.

Hope you've had a good morning.

It's going alright thanks :) I know what you mean with gaming time. It's precious where I can get it these days.

    How are you doing?

There's also this thing where I'm hyperfocused at night and cannot get to sleep.

    @Maximumbeans, I'm doing alright, thanks.

That must be rough. Productive I'm sure but hard to balance with daily life

@Maximumbeans, Indeed. I've been working on getting this Infecutus chip to work on my PS2. But after soldering, I realised that a plastic piece was missing from the power ribbon cable to the power and eject buttons.
  • SylverReZ @ SylverReZ:
Now I could go with soldering the contacts from the cable to the connector on the mobo, but doesn't sound like a good permanent solution.
  • Maximumbeans @ Maximumbeans:
Man, that's beyond my brain  I'm no good with hardware for now. I'd like to get into hardmods in future though
  • SylverReZ @ SylverReZ:
@Maximumbeans, Maybe start practice soldering. Get a cheap-ass soldering iron and follow some good YouTube tutorials.

Least my experience has gotten better than over a decade ago. My iron would constantly bump into components and break them.
  • Maximumbeans @ Maximumbeans:
Sounds good. I actually did soldering but like 16 years ago for school so uuuuh probably rusty haha
  • SylverReZ @ SylverReZ:
@Maximumbeans, Same here. I did soldering at school from a teacher who I honestly liked since he had plenty of good electronics experience.
