ROM Hack checkpoint on switch not working

so ever time i try to use checkpoint and pick the cheats i want to use and then i go to the game and try to do the Ldown and rightstick combo it dosent work why???? can someone help a noob lol

All checkpoint does is downloads the cheat files. The L + d-pad down + R3 is the combo to bring up tesla. If you wanna turn on cheats either use edizon or tesla + edizon overlay while the game is running

thats just it i uses to be able to do that combo to bring up the tesla+edizon during the game but now its not working and i dont no why. and as for just edizon the game im playing dosent have cheats on edizon. only checkpoint has them and im not sure were to get cheats to add them to edizon.
