Wow, sadly none of them are from New York. Saying 'Merry Christmas' to them is like giving them a heart attack.

All three stories just astounded me.
I wasn't even there yet I'm feeling all warm inside. Bless those that contribute to the community- even more when they don't expect anything in return at all.

    Merry Christmas everyone!

I know right? Where I work, I have to say happy holidays instead of Merry Christmas. (I don't though.) Political Correctness is just one of the cancerous legions wearing down the United States.

If people are expecting you to donate, they need to fuck off.
Some people can't afford to be spending money on something/someone other than their family- especially during Christmas time.

If they don't celebrate it, why should they say it? I seriously don't understand why people get all butt-hurt and proclaim there is a war on Christmas. It's a country supposedly based around religious freedom, remember?

Saying happy Christmas makes you die a little inside?
So because I'm Jewish, I'll rage when someone wishes me a merry Christmas?

Nobody is forcing you to celebrate it

Last week on my work placement one of the supervisors told me I should be saying Happy Holidays instead of Merry Christmas as not everyone celebrated Christmas and some people might be offended. I got into a bit of an argument with her and told her it's Christmas and in the UK that's what we celebrate. At the end of the day she had to admit that she was wrong. Not one single person got offended by me saying and some even said how good it was to hear someone say it instead of "Happy Holidays".

Christmas might have been a religious holiday at first but over time it's come to mean much more than that. It's a season of goodwill, good cheer and peace. Of course people should be doing that all year round but it doesn't happen unfortunately. And while Christmas is mutating again into nothing but commercialism and shopping opportunities it still represents a time of the year where people make an extra effort to be good to each other. Even if you're not a Christian then Christmas is still an ideal that can be celebrated. Hell, I'm not Christian and it's my favourite time of the year.

The show Community put it brilliantly in their Christmas episode.

And cheers for posting these Living Shadow, I love stories like this! It shows that not everybody is caught up in the greed of corporate commercialism that goes on this time of year!

(Yeah that's right, for a mean old man I'm soft as shit! lol)

Not to mention, more people may get offended for saying happy holiday than Merry Christmas... silly humans, logic is apparently not for us.

Food Banks feed a lot of needy people. The Salvation Army is one of the most responsible charities in the world. (95% of their funds go directly towards people in need. Very low operating costs as an org.)

a friend of mine is a big time cannabis "retailer" up here in canada.
    He makes mad dough (illegaly).

We here in BC have this thing where BC Transit (our bus company) sends around a bus, and the goal is to fill this bus with food donations.

well, my friend rented a budget moving van. he went to our local costco, and spend over 5000$ on 25 turkeys, non perishable food, and clothes. He filled the van almost to the top, and waited at the bus stop in his town almost all day, and the bloody bus didn't come.
Either way, he sat around all day at the bus stop, the bus showed up with a 2 hour delay. The bus driver mentioned this was last stop, and that donations have been down compared to last year.

Well, it took us nearly half an hour to unload the van into the bus.
best thing is, my friend got a charitable dontaions tax exempt on dirty money, meaning this helped him out too [IMG]

It goes to show, that someone "who sells drugs" doesn't have to be a bad person. This christmas, 25 families enjoyed a FAT turkey dinner.

this action suprised me a bit, but this is the true christmas spirit. If you're in a position to give, then you should give. When i asked him why 5000$ he said the bible told him to give away the 10th part of his belongings to those in need.

Apparently we have a religious, generous drug dealer. Oh well.
    Merry Christmas [IMG]
