Im wondering if this is the right spot to ask. I just finished Final Fantasy 8 and it has L3 configured to be the toggle for the Fast Forward mode.
In Final Fantasy IX you have to pause, then press R to toggle it on and off. This is a headache as if you are in battle and want to undo it for a moment to check stuff, etc, you have to go in and out of pause, and its not as fluid.
I'm assuming there would be a way to bind L3 to enable/disable a cheat where the current status would be fast forward mode? Or are the cheat codes not that flexible?

that is the japanese version
you could try change the title id and build id and see if it works, make sure the version number matches the cheats
