Hi everyone,
I have a New 3DS XL that recently got a USB-C mod. During the process, I’m pretty sure I accidentally broke the connectors for the home button and the microphone. That’s not a huge issue for me—I’m using rehid to remap the home button, and I don’t really use the mic anyway.
After installing the USB-C mod, I mistakenly inserted the battery the wrong way before closing up the console. I believe that may have fried something, as the system wouldn’t power on afterward. The original battery also started to bloat, so I swapped in a battery from one of my other 3DS units. It’s not new, but it is functional.
Even with the replacement battery, the console still wouldn’t power on, although it did show the charging indicator. I ended up ordering a replacement C-Stick/battery board from eBay for around $20 and installed that. After the swap, the console booted up and appears to be working again using the second battery.
Now, here’s where I’m stuck:
The system powers on and shows the charging light when plugged in, but after leaving it to charge overnight, it never showed a full charge. When I check the battery level, it only shows 3 out of 4 bars. Also, when I unplug the charger, the charging light stays on until I power the system on—almost like it still thinks it’s plugged in, which seems odd.
Does anyone have any ideas about what might be going on here? I’m not sure if I have a battery issue, a console issue, or something else entirely. I’d like to avoid damaging this or future batteries if there’s a problem with the charging system.
Thanks in advance to anyone who takes the time to read and help out!
