Hacking CFW on old 3DS on 11.4

Hi... So I've been doing some research on 3DS CFW etc, and I was wondering if there is any way to install CFW on an Old 3DS currently on 11.4.0-37E. I can upgrade to 11.6, but I'm a bit sceptical. I don't feel comfortable doing any form of soldering/hardmod and I can't really afford a flashcart >.< Also, I don't have another 3DS.

Any idea of what I could do?

Are you sure you can't afford $10 flashcard? Otherwise, I don't really know. There is a way of doing DSiWare your self without any other console but don't remember how.
