its a dilemma, a quandary, for sure...but, like many times in our lives, he'd be faced with a choice, and the decision he makes will say a lot about him, perhaps even something he didnt know about himself.
my question hasnt been answered - how can that be?[*]no one likes me[*]no one cares[*]no one knows the answernow, the person who chooses option #1 is taking both the userbase and themselves far too seriously. outside of a few random users who wonder if you live on a houseboat, a handful of others who wonder what all those teams are in your custom title, and maybe 3 or perhaps 4 people who want to sacrifice you to a deity, most people here have no idea who the hell you are, and therefore havent made a decision one way or another on whether they should like you or not. 5 bumps, however, is enough to make most people lean in a specific direction, however, and wont help your cause any.
choice #2, however tempting it is to make, because lets face it, people suck, is still an incorrect answer here, because for every apathetic ne'er-do-well hanging about, theres at least ten other tempers who either
a) really want to share wrong information they think is right
b) seriously enjoy seeing their names on the screen
c) have a batch file to pimp
d) actually know and supply a valid answer which gets lost in the flotsam and jetsam of a, b, and c. people here care, quincy...in fact, they might care just a bit too much.
leaving us with choice #3, which, as those of you who skipped right to the end surely saw, is the right answer. its so easy to assume, when you see that your topic has no replies but 800 views, that 800 separate people clicked, saw your consternation and laughed heartily, hoarding the knowledge you seek to themselves, in a mad plot for scene domination, but all narcissistic conspiracy theories aside, those people just simply didnt know how to help, and then moved on, more likely than not, wishing you well in their heart of hearts.
in summation, you arent being hated, you arent being ignored, you are just being passed over because people lack the information you require. frequent bumping, which seems like it will maximize the eyeballs your problem sees, is actually working against you, because its basically telling us that you think your questions are more important than the ones on the front page, and that you, as a poster, think that you are more important than the posters on the first page, which, lamentably, will start making choice #1 and choice #2 more of an option for folks, as people start to recognize your username.
