ROM Hack .Carc editor

Recently I have been getting into messing around with Mario Kart DS and within the .NDS file, there are many .carc files.

I would like to be able to extract them, and reassemble them after editing. Is there any program/tool that will do this?

natrium42's narctool should open them although I am not sure about reassembly as I use a hex editor for most things like this.

ill give that a try.

The narctool seems to be able to convert a .carc to a .narc, and then convert the .narc into a directory.

It also can compress it backwards so this will be fine. The only problem im having is that now that i have converted the .carc file to .narc, narctool.exe unexpectedly quits when i try to convert this new .narc file to a directory tree.

How can I get this to work? It gives me no reason why it quits. Yes, i AM using the command line. ahaha
