Hacking Can't get Bookmark type to work, need help

When I try to put the "Change for" to DVD+R DL media in IMGBurn for all the 8 brands listed there, it says

Unknown (Failed!!)
Reason: Invalid Command Operation Code

How else do I change my booktype? I have a

HL-DT-ST DVD+-RW GH30N

Dont even know what brand that is, and its not LG. Please help

Your drive doesn't support that BookType - You have the same drive I used to have but never found out the brand name so got a new drive.

What he said ! I have the same thing with my notebook, think it has the same burner.
Just buy minus-R discs...

I searched your burner, HL-DT-ST is the brand ... and it's an internal burner, so probably a notebook? those are often 'light' versions, which don't support booktype setting...

I had a notebook with an IMGburn-supported brand, and it didn't give me any error... so the error you're getting is because IMGburn doesn't support your drive with booktype setting...

but even if you find a burn program that DOES support your brand, if it's a notebook burner, it probably won't be able anyway...

I never got an error message like that, or any other for the matter, although my laptop's dvd burner wasn't able to set booktype either ...

Then you probably never used the ability off imgburn to change booktype settings. If you revert the booktype setting to not use it then you will not get any burn errors

No I have a desktop burner. So now what? The Wii cant read DVD+R DL discs?

Try and find a custom flash for the drive.

My Pioneer burner didnt support booktyping but I found a custom flash called Piodata and it gave my drive Booktyping and faster burn speeds

(with the custom flash you dont need to set booktyping on imgburn it does it automatically)

It's also a great way to turn your drive into a paperweight if you're a noob. Judging from the OP's posts..this may not be a good idea for him to do.

Imgburn only supports booktyping with some drives. I know there is a setting in Nero you can enable to booktype DVD+R (DL) to DVD-ROM, but I can't remember where in the settings it is...

to clarify: NO, it can NOT read DVD+R ... a wii is like those oldskool (or just expensive) DVD players and only wants original DVDs, or in other words DVD-ROM... You can trick it by using DVD-R, but +R won't work unless you can set it's booktype to DVD-ROM...

If you install a modchip in your wii like a Wiikey 2 it will be able to read DVD+R discs and it will even enable the wii to read backups at 6x (i have a wiikey 2). However it will still be a good idea to use bitsetting on DVD+R discs. If you want the best compatibility for backups, use DVD-R discs.
Also it is preferred to burn games at 4x as higher burn speeds can sometimes make backups not work. I had this problem with sonic unleashed and mario super sluggers
