I recently decided to softmod my wii after pandoraizing my PSP.

I have a question I can't seem to find the answer to. I have a launch wii... in the wii options it says 3.4u this is the system menu version correct? I haven't updated in a very long time and was wondering if I was right or not. Is there a way for me to update my wii, seeing as I can't update with wifi through nintendo anymore. Am I thinking right or is not the system menu version at all?

sorry if this has been answered... I've read through the forums and used the advanced search options.

Probably wasn't mentioned elsewhere since it is assumed to be pretty basic knowledge.

Yes, you have version 3.4 of the USA/NTSC System Menu. There is a large topic (Ultimate 4.0 Guide or somesuch) with a guide on how to update while keeping homebrew modifications intact using a customized updater. Generally, 3.2 or 4.0 are the best places to be, although 4.1 is also fine.

I was told if I update like that my wii could get banned from the nintendo network, and I currently don't have wireless internet so I've had to make all the wads and such to get this to work of of my SD card

its called preloader.
3.4 doesnt have preloader hacks.
use waninkoko's firmware updater to safely get to 4.1

but in your case, since you have no wifi, follow the offline method in my guide and youll get the the system menu wad to install via wad manager

I'll chalk that one up to you thinking of my guide as more of an encyclopedia than a guide.

i thought everybody knew cocktails are like 75% ice

    Yeah but not like this.
  • Veho @ Veho:
It's not like they're complaining that their Slurpee is 99% ice or something, but if the cocktail calls for "shot of vodka, shot of vermouth, shot of gin, shot of Campari, three shots of juice, squirt of lemon" and ends up being a thimbleful of booze, that's a problem.

the funny thing is cocktails in norway are only allowed to have 1 20ml shot of booze

    so..... yeah

we're used to only having a thimbleful of booze

same thing if you want whisky on the rocks or something, you can't get a double
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
but you could buy as many shots of whisky (or anything else) as you want and ask for a glass of ice and pour them in

    it's dumb
  • Veho @ Veho:
    Maybe.
  • Veho @ Veho:
There was a comparison of the number of Ibuprofen poisonings before and after they limited the maximum dosage per box or per pill (i'll look that up). No limit on the number of boxes you can still buy as many as you want, so people argued it was pointless.
  • Veho @ Veho:
But the number of (accidental) poisonings dropped because drinking an entire package of ibuprofen pills went from "I need a new liver" to "I need a new box of Ibuprofen".
  • Veho @ Veho:
Here we have ketoprofen that used to be prescription-only because of the risk of toxic dosages, but then they halved the dose per pill and sell them in bottles of six pills apiece instead of twenty and it doesn't need a prescription any more. Yes you can buy more than one bottle but people simply don't.
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
Usually accidentally overdose of ibuprofen here is from people taking like cold medicine then ibuprofen for a headache and the combination is over what they need
