Hardware Can't check my firmware

hello i have recently found my old 3ds xl and when i turned it on it was covered in black ink i will be getting a screen replacement but for now i wanted to hack it and to do that i needed to know my firmware so is there a way that i could find it using a program or something?(excuse my grammer)

get a Mr. Clean magic eraser. That ink will come right off

what do you mean by black ink?, is it inside the screen or outside?

i'm not sure if you can take the screen out and try to clean it with some alcohol, i mean, its worth a try, and if it doesn't work buy another screen, just be careful to not damage the electronic parts

Use the bottom screen to open system settings and see if you can see the version number on the bottom right of top. Unless there is ink there
