Hacking Can you keep old save when changing headers?

I've been using a public header for smash bros this whole time and have been going online. Recently I've heard about the ban wave against people who use public headers. So my question is if I inject my own personal private header into the pre-existing ROM will I keep my old save? If not is there any way?

try renaming it to the name the new saves create? I don't know, sorry :x

Its a card2 game so try extracting the save with savedatafiler, change the header and look if your save is there, if not, go to savedatafiler and inject the save back and see if it works.
