I bought the Star Wars Empire at War Gold Pack from my local Hastings before I signed up for Steam.
Now I find that the game is on Steam, but my CD key does not work with it, and my install disk is destroyed .
Is there any way for me to get the game on Steam since I still have the CD keys included with the game?

Click the games tab and select Activate a product, you'll find out if the key/s are accepted or not.

Very very few are supported in that way, Prey is one that was I found out much later on.

Try it and see I guess, Just don't retry it a few times over or it will lock you out from trying CDKeys for an hour or so (Anti Flood Protection I guess)

the list is just a generalized list, for example my half-life platinum collection se cd key worked

My original Half-Life key (from the 1st PC-CD release way back whenever, years before Steam existed) unlocked every GoldSRC engined game available when I entered it into Steam. The problem may be that the previous owner of the game registered the key with Steam. Also there may be different rules for Valve games and games from other developers.

I think part of the problem with this game specifically is that it has 2 cd keys with the game, since it has the expansion built into but it requires a separate key
